We all know the relaxing power of a good massage. Admit it, you'd love to give up everything for a solo balneotherapy session? Well, it's just the same for babies! Massaging a baby allows you to forge an emotional bond with him, to relax and soothe him. According to Adeline, our referral nursery nurse, the best time to massage a baby is in the evening, after bath time and just before bedtime.
She also recommends these 3 massage gestures for babies, to help them fall asleep more easily... Shall we give it a try?

1. start with the legs.

Place your little one comfortably on a changing table or bed. Baby shouldn't feel cold: you can leave him/her in a bodysuit, covered with a bath cape or a diaper.
To carry out the massage, you can use a moisturizing milk or a baby massage oil.
Grab her little thighs between your hands, and gently work your way down to her calves. Repeat this gesture 3 to 6 times, until you feel her legs relax. Then continue down to the soles of the feet, where you use your thumbs to make small circular movements.

As Adeline says:

"Feet have a multitude of nerve endings, and with them alone, you'll be able to relax a large part of your baby's little body! Magical. "

2. Next, massage your baby's arms

Just as you did with his legs, you can grasp his little arms between your hands and massage them, moving gently down to his forearms. Then move on to the palms of his hands, just as you did with his feet. You can also massage her fingers.

3. Finish by massaging your baby's back.

Gently place your baby on his tummy. Using the tips of your fingers, make small rotating movements, moving down his back. Repeat three times. Then, with your thumbs, make small movements from the spine outwards.

With these movements, you're sure to see your child calm down as the massage progresses... and maybe even fall asleep in your hands! In that case, all you have to do is place him in his sleeping bag, and let him drift off into the arms of Morpheus !
